Storyline
The struggle and limitations to find the sister of a convict who is currently on parole. And by the drama progresses we can understand why everything happened the way it is.
From the beginning, we can feel the emotions on Sandra Bullock’s face. By looking at her face any person can simply understand she has gone through some serious kinds of stuff. Even when she is smiling the pain is there. That’s some masterpiece render of a character. I have seen some reviews that her face has nothing or no emotions. Yes. Now think about why. There’s your answer!
As always, I traveled by her side, but for a moment I thought about what if I faced something like this. I mean I’m at the receiving end and she is the convict in that case. Do I forgive her? No absolutely no. And I’m sure no one can. It’s difficult to judge in this scenario. Only an experienced mature human can act normally in this situation. Although still doubtful, I guess.
Imagine your father is a cop and he got killed when he tried to help a family. Whatever the reasons are, you are now a victim of that event.
I also thought about the life of convicts who are on parole in real life. It’s not easy. Our society is not mature enough to handle perfectly in this kinda situation.
The afterlife
Everywhere they go they are either a killer or a thief or a criminal. That is not going to go. It’s now a part of their DNA. It’s now their fate to live with that. Accept and move on. But what about the struggle? It’s very difficult to weigh the pros and cons here I think.
When I find out the real reasons why she went to prison, it’s absolutely painful to digest. I wish my worst enemies won’t have to go through this kind of experience. I don't know what to call it. Is it fate or tragedy? Or is it life?
She forcefully removed from her sister. Sometimes the system can be cruel. She had to suffer for everything. But her pain and suffering are not valueless. She realizes the moment why her sister kept away from her is not justifiable. Otherwise, what’s the point of life? Why would she live? For what? If the world is not kind enough to her, it’s absolutely difficult to even think about her mental state.
Anyway, I expected some scenes at the end. But now thinking, I think yeah the decision to end the movie with hugging and closing eyes makes sense. Some emotions are only good in our imagination, and it is best to leave them unwritten.
