Storyline
A successful banker is arrested for the murders of his wife and her lover and is sentenced to life imprisonment at the Shawshank prison. And the follow-up story of how prison can change a man!
Repeat value - every year
Well, I have no idea how many times I have watched this movie by now, but I think once every year for the past four or five years. Frank Darabont & Stephen King did a great job there, so I’m watching a movie - my age old -again and again!
There are a lot of nice and powerful quotes in this movie. Three of my favorites are;
Let me tell you something, my friend. Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane.
“Remember, Red, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies. I will be hoping that this letter finds you, and finds you well.”
I guess it comes down to a simple choice, really. Get busy livin' or get busy dying
Morgan Freeman is an extraordinary actor. We can see that in every scene. For eg; how is he handling the Brooks death letter.
Also, something that strikes in my mind during the recent watch was “The Story of an Institutionalized Man”. It makes sense.
Red– “These walls are funny. First, you hate 'em. Then you get used to 'em. Enough time passes, you get so you depend on them. That's institutionalized.”

And the lead character Andy Dufresne - is outstanding. I’m not going to write another essay. Either you watch the movie or you already know it.
I guess the young character who was killed in the movie really did a great job at that time.
