Dear hiring people from talent acquisition and other teams,
I’m not going to plant a story to prove my point. I want to highlight a few issues with your messages. Please check the below bullet points.
These are some of the DMs I'm getting in my LinkedIn messages. People who don't even look at my profile are randomly scamming me. As you may know already, I will get a notification when someone visits my profile, even in public or private mode. These people never visited my profile. I keep the info only for “private profile characteristics” in the settings.
My name is ****** and I am from the Talent Acquisition team of *******. I came across your profile on LinkedIn and am very impressed with your skills and experience in Visual Designing.
Hi Romio, Impressive background! I had the opportunity to review your profile today, and I'm looking to hire someone with your background and skills. I'd love to have a conversation with you about this career opportunity.
Hey Romio, I came across your profile and was wondering if you're looking out for any opportunities currently?
Hi, Greetings from ****** !!! We are looking for UI/ UX Designers and your profile looks good. If you are looking for one, you can share your CV here.
And I'm getting the same messages all the time. They just copy-paste the message sample from their seniors or the internet. It's like these people don't even bother to find a good employee for their organization! And then, they talk about user and customer experiences. I'm not generalizing here. Please don't think like that. I have seen a few great HR and hiring people. But you know there are bad apples too. And I kind of don’t even reply to any of the messages these days. Starting to feel LinkedIn is like an outdated platform. It’s frustrating.
Employee reference phishing
This is the most irritating thing currently I’m facing. I get it. You will be rewarded for your successful references. But at my cost - no thanks. Not anymore.
Randomly phishing people like “hey, apply for UX Designer” role here ******* and please fill my name on the form”. I deleted all that messages. Otherwise, I would have shown them here. And the most important thing is most of these people are UX Designers. 🤦♂️ After the bonus is received to them they will move out from the organization. Like I’m the transaction cost here.
Conclusion
Do you get my point? I mean, I’m tired of these types of approaches. We want this industry to be creative and more friendly, right? I understand that this may be just a job for you, but that approach ultimately kills the experiences and expectations. Money is a significant factor, so as the experiences. That is what is going to keep the employee there for a long time.
Sincerely, Romio
