It took me weeks to finalise a product. Buying a laptop for work is not easy at all. I did a lot of research, yet a mistake happened due to the negligence of a tiny factor.
My previous laptop was a top performer in the early stages (2018). From Acer: Intel i5 7th gen processor with 8GB RAM and an NVIDIA GTX 1050 2GB graphics card. It showed some performance issues with the display, overall experience, and no Windows 11 support.
Middle-class working professionals like me buy a laptop for at least 4 to 5 years. So definitely, the purchasing decision is not that easy. We must ensure the processor will last with the upcoming requirements from the software companies I depend on. Times have changed; there is no place for lagging now. No slowing down. We can’t afford that. Simply saying we don’t have the patience anymore.
I compared almost every product in my budget and tried different online shopping sites, YouTube reviews, offline store prices, card offers etc.
At last, I ended on a product - Lenovo IdeaPad 3
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 Octa Core 5800H with Radeon Graphics (3.20 GHz up to 4.4 GHz)
RAM: 8.00 GB 3200 MHz DDR4 (+8GB to install later)
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 4GB (GDDR6)
Windows 11 (Finally!)
2x USB 3.2 Gen 1, 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 1
1920 x 1080 Pixel/IPS (250nits Anti-glare, 120Hz, 45% NTSC*)
HD 720p with Camera Shutter
Battery: Up to 5 hours (Not a deal breaker for me)
Lifelong subscription to MS Office Student 2021 (A pretty good deal)
I bought this one offline with a price difference of just ₹500. I especially prefer offline purchases if it’s costly; I don’t trust online deliveries these days)
After reaching home with this laptop, I noticed one thing, there was something wrong with the display. It’s a bit yellow or faded. Maybe an update would fix this, so I updated it to 22H2.
I was still facing the issue. I checked for the night light. Slide the brightness complete. Nothing helped. I opened Figma, and their default grey is not that great. I tried googling and found that 45% NTSC is making the issue.
Now I’m in search of a good IPS monitor.
