The other day I was trying to add my Gumroad link to my About Me page and the platform is not there! I was surprised. Did they really forget to add Gumroad?
So I emailed them. But they said, “Our social links are created based on demand, so we can't promise those will be added in the near future.” Surprised again… because Gumroad is not on the demand side. Really? This Gumroad?
Suddenly I remembered this phrase and searched this exact sentence in my email. And I got the result. I asked about Polywork and Substack over one and a half years ago.
Out of this Substack is now there. Polyword recently pivoted to a personal website subscription service, irony, or what?
I looked for other similar platforms to move out. But I didn't find anything I was looking for. Not just that everything is paywalled and this is not something I want to subscribe to monthly. Either a one-time payment or a free tier with basic needs.
Seriously, I’m fed up with subscription models. Every microservice is now monthly billed. But that’s a story for another time.
I then remembered my abandoned project after seeing the Contra profile design. I tried to build something similar but then I lost the inspiration. I've seen other platforms try to do something similar for startup founders who are building in public to list their startups - that too with yearly access or a one-time payment!
When I was just sitting in the living room doing nothing, I got an idea and it grew over time. I thought about multiple possibilities and ended up building my own DigitalHub - an all-in-one solution for showcasing your digital footprint.
I know that it is not a fancy design or a project. But it completes my need. That’s all mattered to me at that time. I’m a user of my own product. So, you know… let’s see.
So what is it?
People who have multiple side projects or start-ups often need a centralized platform to showcase them. I have noticed that some platforms offer project listing for a one-time or yearly payment, indicating that there is a demand for such services.
A place to introduce yourself, and display your start-ups, side projects, services, and those vital links. It's a package designed with you in mind, but you get to be the judge.
Why?
Nowadays, many social platforms are gaining popularity rapidly. However, there is no guarantee that you will be able to use the same username for all your accounts. It's crucial to establish your online identity by announcing yourself since there are many username hoarders and scammers lurking around.
While some individuals opt for mini webpage sites, that experience might tend to look very similar after a certain point.
I've chosen not to make this theme remix link public, you see, I want it to remain exclusive and not saturate the market.
That’s why I even decided to build this waitlist web page - Another story!
For who?
My target audience? Well, I built it for myself. But then I thought why not share it with the people who need it? It's the people with an entrepreneurial spirit. No-code tools are gaining popularity rapidly, and I'm excited to embrace this trend.
